Vetiver oil grass has long, narrow aromatic leaves and straight stems. Grows in tufts and is very tall. Vetiver oil is steam distilled from the roots. The grass takes 18-24 months to grow. Vetiver has an earthy smell. You will see that it is thick and difficult to pour. This is what I would do: when you get your Vetiver oil, pop off the stopper and pour 1/3 of the oil out into two 10ml roller bottles. Add other oils to your Vetiver if you like then fill up each of the 10ml roller bottles up with Fractionated Coconut oil. Dilute the remaining 2/3 of your Vetiver bottle up with Fractionated Coconut Oil and replace the stopper. Shake the bottle up gently. That way, you will be able to pour your Vetiver oil and extend it too.
Vetiver helps relieve occasional muscles, spasms, sprains and strains, and can assist in relief of liver congestion. It can support wound repair and relieve dry skin and oily scalps. Vetiver oil is used as a mood lifter. It is helpful with sleep and has been proven effective with regulating and balancing appetite.
Vetiver has a high level of sesquiterpene as part of its chemical make up. “Sesquiterpene molecules deliver oxygen molecules to cells, like hemoglobin does in the blood. Sesquiterpenes can also erase or deprogram miswritten codes in cellular memory. Sesquiterpenes are thought to be especially effective in fighting cancer.”1
Vetiver is used with other essential oils in blends to hold the fragrances for a long time because it is a base note. Vetiver really helps the citrus oil scents “burst” in blends. Skin: Vetiver oil normalize oily skin and clear acne. It replenishes moisture in dry and dehydrated skin. Because it strengthens connective tissue of the skin, Vetiver has a rejuvenating effect on the complexion, particularly mature skin. Vetiver is great for scars.
White & Red Blood Cell Stimulant: Enhances immunity by increasing the production of white blood cells that fight infection. These are the cells that patrol your body, cleaning and literally gobbling up foreign invaders. Stimulates the production of red blood cells, which transport oxygen throughout the body. This again improves immunity and circulation.2
Massage Blend for Jaw Muscles: 1 ounce Fractionated Coconut Oil, Helichrysum 4 drops, White Fir 3 drops, Vetiver 2 drops, and Balance 2 drops. Mix and massage on jawline.3
Post surgery Blend: Vetiver 4 drops, Lavender 3 drops, Helichrysum 2 drops, and Siberian Fir 2 drops in a capsule and take internally. Relief for stretch pain after joint replacement starts to heal.
Sweet Sleep Blend: 2 tablespoons Fractionated Coconut oil, Sandalwood 6 drops, Wild Orange 2 drops, Ylang Ylang 2 drops, Coriander 1 drops, and Vetiver 1 drop. Mix in a separate bottle.
Joint or Muscle Pain After Injury: Vetiver 4 drops, Lavender 3 drops, and Bergamot 2 drops, all in a capsule and take internally.
Bug Repellant: Add Vetiver to the bug repellant mixes. It is especially good against termites.
MIND
Vetiver is the oil of Centering and Grounding. According to the Emotions & Essential Oils, the negative emotions Vetiver oil helps to shift are as follows: Apathetic, disconnected, scattered, stressed, ungrounded, avoiding, and crisis.
When we’ve allowed our mind to be wound up so much, we may see the world from a skewed perspective. A small issue may seem like a big issue to us. We may feel like something is an urgent crisis when it doesn’t have to be so. You see this in children throwing tantrums over seemingly minor things.
The positive properties we can incorporate are the following: Centered, grounded, present, emotionally aware and connected.
The root of the Vetiver plant looks like the brain electrical network. Nature gives us a clue to what it can do for us. Imagine the Vetiver cleaning out the pathways and assist the mind to make connections easily. This connection in the brain is important for learning and physical connection. It means helping the body feeling and being more sensitive again if it has been numb. It means less sensitive if it is overly sensitive.
Relieve Absentmindedness and Helps With Clarity: Mix Vetiver 4 drops, Peppermint 3 drops, Frankincense 3 drops, and a few drops of Fractionated Coconut Oil and rub on the back of the neck 2 to 5 times a day.4
Attention, Concentration, and Focus: Rub on on the big toes, ear lobes, forehead, and back of neck. Put on children before school to balance hyperactive minds. Vetiver Oil helps to stabilize mental and physical energy.
Calming:To help relieve anxious feelings, mix Vetiver with Myrrh 1:1 and applying behind the knees right after shower in the morning. The Vetiver and Myrrh are both rather thick in nature and will process gradually and lend a calming influence throughout the day. If you need to reapply after 3 or 4 hours.5 This is great for those feeling after birth blues.
Balance: Helps with balance and reduces affects of dizziness. Apply Vetiver oil on the bone in the back of the ears.
Tension-Buster: Vetiver 3 drops, Patchouli 1 drop, Wild Orange 2 drops, and Ylang Ylang 2 drops.6
Stress Reducing Bath: ½ cup Epsom salts, Lavender 2 drops, Cypress 2 drops, Geranium 1 drop, Siberian Fir 1 drop, and Vetiver 1 drop.7
Relieve Obsessive Over-Thinking: Vetiver 2 drops, Sandalwood 4 drops and apply to the back of the neck or on the bones behind the ears and bottom of big toes.8
Relieve Preoccupation with Detail: Frankincense 3 drops, Vetiver 2 drops, and Lemon 1 drop. Combine and inhale.9
Cope With Sudden Fear (especially at night): Geranium 2 drops, Vetiver 2 drops, and Rose 1 drop. Combine and inhale.10

Vetiver helps those who are in their head too much to share that energy with the rest of the body. We don’t have to do everything all now. There is a time and season for all things. Our scattered brain will lead to feeling overwhelmed and less productivity even when you think you are doing a lot in your head. Work and decisions will be easier when you can be centered and grounded.
Vetiver helps us be still and self-aware. Understanding who you are and who you are not is liberating. You will be able to discover the deeper facets of yourself. It will help you discover your True Self so you can fulfill the purpose of your life and find your happiness.
