Stress and anxiety are very common and serious issues that plague many people today. We may feel helpless and hopeless in this noisy, bright, overly-stimulating, high-tech, high-speed society. When life gets so overwhelming, we feel like just hiding, giving up and do nothing?
You’ve got big dreams and goals. It is so frustrating that things seem to not be happening fast enough right? Argh! 😩 When we are stressed about it, we tend to self-sabotage and deal with the stress and anxiety with food, alcohol, addictions, and distractions.
Sometimes you feel like you are running so fast but still feel like we are not getting anywhere. It’s so frustrating. In fact, do you feel like you are getting more cray cray, fatter, more depressed, and getting less sleep.🤯
You don’t know why you get so distracted by the wrong things and have such a hard time saying, ‘no’! How can we stop, take the time and be still, be clear-minded and self-reflective when there is so much to do?
About 10 years ago, I didn’t recognize I had any form of ‘anxiety.’ I assumed that everyone was like me. People were stressed too and that this common response to life was normal and acceptable. Now I know that it doesn’t have to be so. I know now that I can have more peace and joy in THIS life without the need to mindlessly react to the world’s every stimulus. It is so liberating to be highly productive yet sufficiently relaxed and rested at the same time. I want to share this way of life with everyone. Here are my 4 natural solutions to helping you with stress and anxious feelings.
When you have mastered yourself and you feel empowered, you can do twice as much in half the time you use to take. I know you will enjoy more play and creative time. You can do it. You have it in you to succeed. Allow more light in your life and you will see that that statement is true.
Note: These are not cures, I am suggesting we take better care of our whole body and mind as a great place to start the journey of mental wellness.
Support Brain Health
Sometimes our brain just can’t produce the happy hormonal chemicals for relaxation and rest, so we continue to suffer and operate from the stress and anxiety mode. Let’s fix this now. Let’s give our brain the necessary building blocks to function optimally! I know, that was the problem with my brain.
I’m sure you know that the brain is composed of mostly fat and water. Let’s feed the brain with a healthy variety of omega oil sources. Your brain needs a spectrum of Omega 3, 6, and 9s.
Keep your brain and body hydrated by drinking a few drops of citrus oils in your water throughout the day. Read more in the ebook.
Here are my simple suggestions for feeding the brain.
Eat Omega Oil rich foods: Eat more fatty fish, avocado, coconut oil, & nuts.

Take high antioxidant food & Essential oils daily: Cassia, Cinnamon, Copaiba, Clove, Black Pepper, Juniper Berry Oils are great sources of antioxidants. Eat more blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, strawberries, spinach, kale, and cranberries.
Drink water: Add 1-2 drops of your favorite citrus oil to water and drink throughout the day. My favorite oils are Lemon, Wild Orange, Grapefruit, Green Mandarin

Gut Health
The gut is considered a second brain because there are more neurotransmitters (brain chemicals) in your gut than in your brain. 90% of serotonin and other feel-good chemicals are produced in the gut. Keep the gut clean and healthy so it can keep producing those brain chemicals. Make sure you have 2-4 quick bowel movements a day so you don’t get fungus build up. The following suggestions might help you go more if you aren’t having regular bowel movements.
Enzymes: Along with a healthy diet. I like to use dōTERRA brand of Enzymes called TerraZyme to assist in digestion & tissue repair. I take 1-2 capsules with each meal.
Cleanse & Protect the gut: Ingest 2-3 drops of one or a combination of Lemon, Wild Orange, DigestZen, Cardamom, Grapefruit, Ginger essential oils 2-3 times daily in water. Movement: Even if you can’t exercise intensely. At least move your body. Stretch and go for a walk. Breathe in the air. The idea is to get the blood to flow and nutrients to be delivered to all parts of your body. The body easily eliminates solid and liquid waste when the body has movement.
Clean Whole Food Diet: Eat food as unprocessed as possible. Reduce wheat, sugar, bad fats, soy, dairy and corn.
Sleep & Repair
Restorative sleep that improves the brain functions and improves gut health. Restorative sleep is the naturally induced NREM sleep that puts your body into a state of self repair.
Studies show that deep sleep & quality rest repairs and cleanses the brain and body. The brain organizes information and processes thoughts while you sleep. A lack of sleep causes disease and serious mental issues. Read more about sleep here. To calm & relax the mind and body for sleep here are my suggestions.
Diffuse in a diffuser: The restful essential oil blend called Serenity, Roman Chamomile, or Ylang Ylang before bed and throughout the night.
Internally: Take 2 Serenity soft-gels and 1 drop Juniper Berry under the tongue 30 minutes before bed.
Topically: Apply Cedarwood, Balance, Vetiver, Magnolia oils on forehead, back of neck, earlobes, and big toes. These oils calm, unwind the mind and quieten the mind-chatter.
Master Mind & Mood
The last suggestion I have for you is what will drive you to take all the actions we talked about earlier. Let’s talk about mastering the mind and managing the moods. Yes it is about mind over matter AND a matter over mind. In addition to feeding the brain, cleansing the gut and sleeping better, I do these 3 steps regularly.
Step 1 – Organize your life & home: When your physical world is clean and organized, then your brain will too. The subconscious mind keeps tabs on any undone item or project as open files or on switches in our brain. Too many on switches means we are overwhelmed. Start with organizing just one thing each day and before you know it, your home and life is organized. Diffuse essential oils while decluttering environment. Essential oils I suggest for that are Lemongrass, Purify the cleansing blend, and Wild Orange.
You may believe that you are too busy to take time to organize. You can create time. We are not a victims of time. Time comes from within you. Choose now to believe you have all the time in the world to do all the necessary things you need to do. As soon as I realized this, I chose to change and adopted a new belief, “I have time to live life fully.” I started strengthening this belief by looking for evidence of this. Step 2 – Organize your mind: Choose to believe you are a victor not a victim by journaling for 5 minutes each day to increase self-awareness and clarify your life’s purpose. You are a victor over time, situations, and life. You can create your life. This means you can list out what you are stressed and anxious about and work it out. You are not victims to these things or situations. Can you eliminate and un-attach your happiness to any of these things?
As soon as I began to believe this, I got more time, energy, money and ability to do things I want. With this clarity I can say no to other things even if they are good things because they are not the best things for me and my path.
Only allow yourself to operate within your ‘zone of genius’ or your calling, then you will be happy and at peace. Any time I am fearful, make excuses, get distracted and step out of my ‘zone of genius’ I feel depressed, drained and waste time and money. To help with mental clarity use these essential oils. Sandalwood oil and Clary Sage: apply on forehead, ears, big toes and inhale.
For the sake of your sanity and your family’s happiness to pause for 5-10 minutes each morning to be still. You will get heavenly downloads and inspirations when you slow down. If not, your body will get sick and make you stop and listen. Your life will remain a ‘rat-race’ repeating the same issues and problems until you give yourself a chance to slow down, be self-aware and organize. So, what do you want it to be? A life time of groundhogs day or being brave and facing yourself to change and progress? Sometimes if we are honest, we use the ‘busy’ excuse to feel important, accepted and valued.
Be brave enough to eliminate unnecessary commitments that do not align with your life’s purpose even if they are good things to do. You will never have enough time, energy, money and ability to do things you don’t want to do or are not suppose to do. You don’t need to push against the grain and do those things. Divide up things you think you need to do into three categories: good, better and best. Then only do the best things.
Step 3 Manage Mood: Diffuse essential oils daily for calming & uplifting. You can choose your favorite oils. If you don’t have any favorites right now, may I suggest Elevation the joyful blend, Magnolia, Breathe the respiratory blend and Forgive the renewal blend.
Mental clarity: Sandalwood, InTune, Kid’s Thinker, Clary Sage oils. Apply on forehead, back of the neck, earlobes and big toes in the morning and at night. (refer to the chart below)
Use these oils consistently and patiently. Think of this as an exciting journey. Don’t hold your happiness out until you are ‘done’. We will never be done even beyond death. Teach yourself to live with gratitude and joy. You don’t have to be everything for everyone. You are not responsible for everyone’s happiness. The only person you answer to is God. You love Him and yourself. When you love and respect yourself sufficiently, you naturally have unconditional love to give to others. Your love will no longer be hollow, your love will have substance.
