Our Spikenard is from Nepal. Spikenard oil is distilled from the roots of plant. Because this oil comes from the root, it will help us be more grounded and present. To me it smells like wet nutrient-rich dirt. But to others it may not smell so great because emotionally it’s the oil of gratitude. Most of us think we are grateful people but Spikenard will tell you something totally different!!
Spikenard is the oil of Gratitude in all Situations. Spikenard is a valuable oil that has been used for centuries . It has been used in Ayurvedic health practices of India. When you think of Spikenard, think of skin and brain. I like to dilute and apply it on my face and big toes at night.
Whenever I use Spikenard, I make a point to think of more things to be grateful for. Like a baby unaware of all the work, sacrifice and love his/her parents provide, we too are unaware of how much God has done for us. Most of us have safety, food, shelter, air and other comforts we enjoy daily and perhaps take for granted each day. When we are more aware and grateful, we attract more blessings and happiness!!
This gratitude goes beyond saying, ‘thank you’ to people. It is about deeply feeling grateful for all the challenges that come along for our own higher good. Gratitude opens up the channels for more blessings. Spikenard invites us to change our perspective on situations. Somethings takes effort, energy and the growing pains may be uncomfortable, however, with God, we have what it takes within to handle anything that comes our way.
Spikenard helps us clarify that mind and heart of ours from our excessive fears and unnecessary worry. If you don’t like the smell of this oil, some say it smells like poo or smelly feet, it indicates a lack of awareness of your lack of gratitude. If it smells nice like dark chocolate and berries, then you are one who is humble enough to own your power. You gratefully, bravely and willingly take on whatever challenges God sees fit to give you.

SPIRIT
Spikenard was mentioned in the Bible. A woman used it on Jesus to show gratitude. Other references can be found in Song of Solomon 1:12, 4:13, 4:14
“And being in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at meat, there came a woman having an alabaster box of ointment of spikenard very precious; and she brake the box, and poured it on his head” — Mark 14:3
“Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment.”—John 12:3
Some of us are under the illusion that we are grateful beings. We all hope we are grateful. When you smell Spikenard, it will help you reveal the truth.
Gratitude is an interesting concept that has depth beyond mere good manners and saying ‘thank you.’ Gratitude is a high level of energy vibration that helps people see from a higher perspective. Your heart continues to swell with awe and humility when you have gratitude. Your eyes see blessings in all situations.
When I first smelled Spikenard, it smelled bitter. That told me that I needed to work on gratitude. Gratitude is about my perspective. Even ‘trials and challenges’ can be good. I worked on understanding gratitude deeper to the point where I could be so grateful for my challenges. It helps me feel excited (and a bit nervous) with every new challenge. I know the challenges will be for my own good, and I would not trade it in for the world.
Spikenard helps us accept and be content with our situation and not ‘wish it goes away!’ The trials are gifts from God, so we need to accept them and magnify the potential of what blessings they can bring to us and our lives.
Spikenard helps us change how we view trials. We look for the blessings and perfection in that struggle. Our greatest teachers are trials. Nelson Mandela’s prison sentence was a blessing not only to him but to the world when he learned the wisdom to lead a peaceful revolution.
Our traumas give us a specialized empathy of others that we wouldn’t otherwise have. It develops wonderful skills and wisdom that can fuel your passions and purposes.
Sometimes, I can see all of what I’ve done for others with my good intentions but sometimes I can’t see other’s good intentions and efforts for me. Your spouse, children, friends and family probably do more for you than you see. Using Spikenard helps us get out of our world and notice others too.
You will know when your change of perspective is sufficient. Spikenard will smell nicer to you.
Appreciation & Gratitude: Blend Myrrh, Spikenard and Wild Orange oil together. 1:1:1 ratio and count your blessings. Look for and record all the good things that God and others have done for you. This is a blend I’ve created for appreciation and gratitude. Life is easier, smoother and the world supports us when we are more grateful.
Say,
I appreciate all the abundant blessings I’ve been given.
I allow and continue to attract the abundant blessings into my life.
I am grateful and confident in my ability to handle all challenges I am blessed with
