What is the neck and shoulder discomforts telling us?
The body is amazing. If we have discomforts, the discomforts can tell us what we need to change to be realigned again to our divine path. I call it the Literal Language of the Body.
The Neck
The neck helps us turn our head or mind to see a certain perspective. Neck issues are about not turning your head in the right direction. The right direction is dictated by your heart compass. It will guide you to know your path for your highest good. The state of our ‘stiff neck’ will give us a clue as to how to change ourselves.
The neck issues:
- Not facing the right direction
- Distracted by the world’s understandings and standards
- Moving under pressure, fear, or stress
- Don’t/can’t hear the voice of God
- Not seeing things from a positive perspective
- Cannot see/understand another person’s perspective or point of view
- Stuck overthinking and stressing over your problems
- Can’t see divine solutions to problems
- Unable to sleep, relax, and rest
- I can’t accept others for who they are
“For I know thy rebellion, and thy stiff neck: behold, while I am yet alive with you this day, ye have been rebellious against the Lord; and how much more after my death?” ~ Deuteronomy 31:27
“They wear stiff necks and high heads; yea, and because of pride, and wickedness, and abominations, and whoredoms, they have all gone astray save it be a few, who are the humble followers of Christ; nevertheless, they are led, that in many instances they do err because they are taught by the precepts of men.” ~ 2 Nephi 28:14
The neck is part of the spine. C1-C7 all connect to different parts of the body. Physically adjusting the neck isn’t enough. Work on the emotional and spiritual levels to help you resolve the misalignment more permanently.
Please be patient with yourself as you heal and change. I hope you can see that everybody part is linked to other body part so that resolving one thing will help something else move in the direction of healing too.

- I can connect with others by seeing their perspective.
- I am humbly guided by divine powers.

- I allow myself to be gently guided by divine love and light.

The Shoulders
Shoulders can carry heavy things and allow arms to have its full range of movements. When our shoulders get stiff and sore, it is a sign that we are carrying more perceived burdens than we need to.
The shoulder issues:
- Feeling overburdened
- Carrying burdens that is not yours
- Doing too much for others
- Not confident in your ability to be responsible for yourself
- Not trusting God and others to collaborate with you
- Not sharing the load or receiving help
Yes, we all want to be kind and loving and carry one another’s burdens, and to help out. However, there is a difference between comforting each other and being responsible for each other’s actions and happiness. We sometimes suffer needlessly for other people’s choices. We should do all we can to help others, as inspired by God, but we should not rob others of their power of choice. Consequences from choices teach people about universal laws. Sometimes situations propel people to humility and turn to God. Remember God is more interested in our growth than our comfort.
Left shoulder: Not allowing yourself to receive help. Not caring enough for yourself. Carrying too much family burdens.
Right shoulder: Doing too much for others that they could do themselves. Delegate more.
Most often, these thoughts and belief patterns are inherited from generations. Do one or both of your parents or perhaps your grandparent have these issues too?
Affirmations, new enlightened thoughts and beliefs to adopt:
- I wisely delegate and share burdens.
- I allow God to help me take care of my burdens.
- My burdens are light and bearable.
- I wisely partner with God to manage my responsibilities.
- Interdependence is better than independence.
- I choose to be strong.
