Years ago, I watched the movie Strictly Ballroom and heard this quote:
“A life lived in fear is a life half-lived.” by Baz Luhrmann.
For some reason, it stuck with me. Since, I knew God loves me and wants to help me to be happy, it was then that I was determined to live a FULLY happy life!! I am happy to say that I’ve tried my best to do this and it has brought me so much liberation, joy, health and happiness. It’s been an amazing journey.
Allow me to share with you how I’ve achieved it.
The question then was, “How can we live a full life?” Removing fear seems to be part of the answer. First of all, we have to identify what fear is.
1. Identifying Fear
It is best to start with your current situation and work on one layer of fear at a time. Fear is darkness and has many names. Pause, be still and write down your thoughts. You will see as you self-examine what the fears are. The root of ALL fears is a disconnection to God. God is like our rock.
In the picture above, there is a tree that has grown and is sticking out from the edge of that cliff! In my mind, it is like the tree saying, “I just want to live an exciting life and see the full view of the beautiful valley below. I can do it if I hold tightly onto this rock.”
That tree grew a little at a time, inch by inch and now it’s there.
Recently I helped a lady who complained that she had sinus problems which she identified was agitated further by allergies. We both want her to live life FULLY!
I asked her if she knew that sinus problems is caused by a gut problem? She answered no she did not know that but admitted that she has gut problems for years.
Then I asked her if she knew that gut problems is caused emotions of anxiety and stress? She answered no she did not know that but admitted that she has a lot of anxiety and stress for years.
Then I asked her if she knew that the anxiety and stress problem is caused by her forgetting to connect with God? She then laughed and nodded in agreement! Yes! She had forgotten to ask God for help and relied on Him.
And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. Luke 11:9
The solution was so simple, she continued to laugh and nod in agreement! See how our body teaches us the solutions to our problems?
That lady admitted that she has been feeling like she should quit her job but haven’t had the courage to do so. She forgot to ask God to support her as she transitions and makes this new change.
So asking God and His angels to attend us each day with whatever we are doing, will helps us be more confident (not stressed and anxious) so that gut will be happier, which helps the sinus clear up, which then allows her to FULLY breathe in the Breath of LIFE!!
YAY! Hooray!
2. Be Aware That You Are The Co-Author Of Your Life-Book
If our life can be recorded in a book and each page is a day in your life. How would your book read? Our days are all numbered and we will all die one day, when God takes us back. That is great is that we great influence and power over what goes into our life-book: You are the co-author! I believe that with with faith and connection to God our writing parter and co-author, we can live life fully and find many pages of happiness and peace to fill our life-book. The other pages are good too when they are seen in the light of learning opportunities and refining fires of our lives. Embrace the ‘storms’ makes the book all the more interesting to read!
What makes for a boring read is when page after page in our life-book is recorded moments of us holding ourselves back! You maybe thinking you are ‘playing it safe’ but your heart and lungs will tell you that you are not balanced and definitely not happily living a full life! Living life fully does not mean taking foolish risks, I am not saying that at all.
When we get a God sent inspiration (idea) to do something we sometimes don’t act on it right away! We think and then doubt! We only use 2-3 % of our brains thinking logically. It is exhausting relying on such a small portion of your brain to live a full life. No wonder so many people get so drained, stressed, and fearful because they don’t fully ‘get’ the big picture!
The big picture can only be seen when you use all of your 6 senses! This will help you be more confident to ACT on your divine promptings!
Here are a few thought provoking questions to help us use ALL our senses to make better choices and live life more fully.
- What do you see? Can you see you are blessed and safe? Can you see where you want to go?
- What do you taste? Are you fully savoring the pleasures and sweetness of food and water? What is your body asking to eat?
- What can you feel with your touch sense? How much have you all0wed your body to communicate with you? What is the Literal Language of your body telling you? Are you honoring the gut-feelings? I often rely on my muscle strength tests to cross check my instincts.
- Are you hearing the words of love around you? Does sound move your heart? Are you listening to divine messages?
- Smelling scents such as essential oils helps you identify emotions. When my nose is asking to smell Bergamot, I now know that my body wants help feeling more confidence at this stage of my journey.
- Your instincts is your inner compass. Allow it to guide you. It is always right. If and when you doubt it, check with your other senses to confirm. When your heart swells with joy and your eyes water at certain impressions you’ve received then thats ‘divine instruction!’ Honor it! The more you honor and act on your instincts the more it develops and gives you confidence.
Nowadays, my lungs can breathe full deep breaths of air. I feel more ‘awakened’ than I’ve ever been all my life. Each day, I feel inspired to be better and to help others be better and live life fully too. I know this will only get better and better as I invite more light into my life.
3. Identify What You Want Out of Life
Give yourself time to list out what it is that you want out of life. Seriously, take time for this. Consider what is is that you like doing! Who do you like to be like or hang out with? If you have all the time, money and health in the world, what would you like to spend your days doing?
I promise you won’t be sitting around doing nothing! Right now, you might be so tired, you want to just rest and do nothing. Imagine a version of you having lots of energy, vitality, strength, mental clarity and then think how that version of YOU is going to add value to the world?
Do you want to create charities or foundations that further causes you are passionate about? Are there any place you want to visit and experience? Some people tell me they have a great love for a particular place but haven’t allowed themselves the luxury (thats subjective) of go there. Don’t live that half-life! It’s so sad.
Keep listing, dreaming and writing those thoughts down as often as it comes to you.
4. Build Courage Daily
You must allow yourself daily opportunities to build your faith and trust in God. You will become confident in your abilities as you allow your courage to grow with each experience. Make room for miracles daily.
Easy Ideas for making room for MIRACLES:
- Ask God to help you go safely from home to work
- Ask God to part the traffic for you to pass
- Ask God to help you find a parking spot
- Ask God to help you finish only the work you need to do today and allow him take on the rest.
- Ask God to take care of some of your other responsibilities while you spend much needed quality time with your kids. (Sometimes, I find that all the things I thought needed to be done, didn’t anymore OR when you get back to your other work, you are more efficient somehow.)
- Ask God to take care of some of your many responsibilities while you spend 15 mins relaxing and unwinding.
- Ask God to anything you like and let go. Allow God the space and time to make miracles happen…there are so many ideas.
You will be given ideas and clues to get answers you need. Answers and miracles come in many different unexpected ways.
It helps to keep an eye focused on only positive things as much as possible. Acknowledge that ALL good things are from God.
Go forth my friend and live life FULLY!!
