Are you the youngest member of your family?
Sometimes, but not always, the youngest person in the family feels defeated A LOT! They have a weaken sense of self and a lack of passion for life. Do things happen to you that you can’t seem to get on top of? Fennel reminds you that YOU have the POWER within to handle your life. No more giving your power away through blame.
If you feel fear, shame and your body isn’t digesting things well, then make friends with Fennel.
If you say, “I always put myself last” then you should consider using Fennel for a while. Mothers and fathers may have a weak sense of self when they have children because they put the needs of their children before their own. Fennel teaches you that you are equal and deserving much love and attention as everyone.
dōTERRA Fennel is sweet in taste and effectiveness. It is an herb that has been used in Ancient Egypt, Greece, Rome, Great Britain, and India.
Fennel is very strong against environmental threats. Using it often and in any way will help boost your immunity.
The first thing you will notice is the strong licorice aroma and flavor. For those who like licorice this will be a healthier alternative.
Fennel blends well with Geranium, Lavender, Black Pepper, Rosemary, Sandalwood, Frankincense, and Lemon.

Fennel has a special estrogenic ability to support hormone balancing in women and men! When we think of estrogen, we think of women’s monthly cycles, PMS etc. And yes, Fennel is great for supporting the body in those ways, too, but it can do a lot more than that. Any time we can balance estrogen levels, our body will have better muscle tone, more elasticity of skin and connective tissues, healthier circulation, stronger bones, and even slows down aging.
Increase Breast Milk: Rub Fennel or Basil on breast tissues after feedings 3-4 times a day – avoid the nipples. Fennel draws out the milk from the tissues. This is a short-term solution. Use no more than 10 days (longer than that may actually decrease milk supply).
Women’s Monthly Cycle Body Oil: 4 oz (2tbsp) of coconut oil, 5 drops Fennel, 4 drops Ylang Ylang, 5 drops Clary Sage, 6 drops Roman Chamomile, 4 drops Lime, 5 drops Coriander. Blend in a separate container then and massage the oil over your body daily, as needed.1
Cycle-Regulating Oil: 2 ounces of coconut oil, 3 drops Fennel, 2 drops Vetiver, 2 drops Rose, 4 drops White Fir, 6 drops Clary Sage, and 6 drops Roman Chamomile. Blend in a separate container. Each day massage this blend on the backs of the ankles, wrists, low back or over tummy.2
Cycle Regulating Bath Oil: 1/2 cup of Epsom Salts, 2 drops Fennel, 2 drops Coriander, 3 drops Geranium, 3 drops Clary Sage. Add oils to Epsom Salts and then into bath water – soak for 15 minutes and pat dry.3
Cramp Relief Bath: 1/2 cup of Epsom Salts, Fennel 2 drops, Rose Oil 1 drop, Ylang Ylang 3 drops, Marjoram 2 drops. Gently blend oils into Epsom Salts and then into bath water –soak for 15 min.4
Menopause Balancing Bath: 1/2 cup of Epsom Salts, Fennel 1 drops, Geranium 1 drop, Clary Sage 2 drops, Roman Chamomile 2 drops. Mix oils into bath salts and then into bath water-soak 15 minutes.5
Menopause-Balancing Body Oil: Mix 2 ounces coconut oil, Fennel oil 2 drops, Patchouli 2 drops, Coriander 2 drops, Wild Orange 4 drops, Geranium 4 drops, Clary Sage 5 drops, Lime 2 drops. Apply mixture over your entire body, especially over the bloated areas.6
Fennel is great for the digestive system and the respiratory system.
Digestive Support: Fennel is in the DigestZen Digestive blend. You can add more Fennel oil to any version digestive blend to assist in digestion issues. Digestion issues are gas and bloating, constipation, diarrhea, cramps and more. If left unchecked, these digestive issues can lead to more severe gut diseases.7
Any time we take care of the gut, we support brain functions. It is not just our brain that thinks. Our whole body offers a lot of information for us to experience the world. The gut is nicknamed ‘the second brain’ for a good reason. The gut functions are linked to our emotional response. Ever experienced “butterflies” in your stomach? “The enteric nervous system uses more than 30 neurotransmitters, just like the brain, and in fact 95 percent of the body’s serotonin is found in the bowels.”8
When the Digestive system is in check our weight concerns will be relieved, too.
Cellulite Massage: Combine 2 drops Fennel oil, 2 drops Rosemary, 2 drops Cypress, 4 drops Lemon, and 1 drop Patchouli. Blend in a separate container then apply to sides of thighs in upward motion am and pm.9
Weight-Management Inhalant: Combine Fennel 6 drops, Ginger 3 drops, Rosemary 2 drops, Black Pepper 1 drop. Gently blend and pour onto wick and seal inhaler and use when you want to reduce cravings.10
Like most essential oils, Fennel has an amazing ability to help the cell receptors clean out debris, so the cells can communicate more effectively. When our cells are communicating effectively the satiety and hunger signals in our body are sent and received clearly. When the messages have a hard time being sent or received, we can often overeat.
Appetite-Suppressing Inhalant: Combine 6 drops Fennel, 9 drops Bergamot, and 6 drops Patchouli. Add oils to wick and seal the inhaler. Use to reduce cravings and stretch time between meals.11
Appetite-Suppressing Stomach Rub: Combine 2 ounces of coconut oil, 8 drops Fennel, 4 drops Patchouli, and 5 drops Grapefruit. Blend in a separate container and apply to tummy.12
⚠ Warning: People who are prone to Epileptic seizures need to be careful with Fennel. A report noted that fennel was linked to a case where a woman ingested Fennel. It may not have been dōTERRA essential oil but just be careful.13
People who are prone to Epileptic seizures should carry Sandalwood and Frankincense with them all the time! Rub on back of neck, big toes and forehead.

MIND
Fennel is the Oil of Responsibility and Personal Power. According to the Emotions & Essential Oils book, the negative emotions Fennel oil helps to release are as follows: Lake of desire, unwilling to take responsibility, shameful, weak sense of self, numb to body signal
The positive properties we can incorporate are the following: Responsible, in tune with body, satiated
Youngest in the family: Sometimes, but not always, the youngest person in the family feels defeated A LOT! They have a weakened sense of self and a lack of passion for life. They have grown up being the smaller and cutest one in the family. Well-meaning, hovering parents and older siblings are so used to speaking for or doing things for this younger person so much that sometimes this continues well into adolescences and perhaps beyond! Unfortunately the message the younger sibling/children get is that they can’t do things on their
own. They haven’t learned to be FULLY responsible for important things. This affects their self-worth. They don’t trust that they have it within them.
Funny enough these people suffer a lot of gut concerns and Fennel is a great oil for that too!!
Fennel reminds you that YOU have the POWER within to handle your life. No more giving your power away through blame. Keep smelling and drinking lemon and fennel in your water. During this time, allow yourself to ponder what your life’s purpose is and how you can be fulfilled and happy.
At times it takes creativity to discover your true-self. For a person who has been told who he/she should be and how he/she should think all his/her life, it is going to be difficult to separate his/her own beliefs and those subconsciously adopted throughout life.
Creativity Diffuser Blend: Combine 10 drops Fennel, 4 drops Ylang Ylang, 12 drops Coriander, 15 drops Wild Orange, and 6 drops White Fir. Blend in a separate container then add 4-6 drops to your diffuser as needed.14
The Martyr: If you often say, “I always put myself last…” then you should consider using Fennel for a while. We are taught not to be selfish. What do we do? We become so selfless that we lower ourselves beneath others. Mothers and fathers may have a weak sense of self when they have children and continue on like that after their children grow up. Fennel teaches you that you are equal and deserve as much love and attention as everyone. When we can master this belief, we will show our children how to respect themselves too.
Self Care: Fennel reminds you that you have the responsibility to yourself too! Often people who feel that they have a lot of responsibility are shocked to ‘muscle test for’ Fennel. They say, “But I am very responsible.” Then I ask them if they take time to care for themselves and they say, “No, not really.” Fennel helps you balance your time, so you can take of yourself, too. Smelling it, rubbing it on and drinking it will help your feel a stronger sense of self and pay attention to your own needs.
SPIRIT
You are a dynamic being that consists of mind, body, and spirit. Your body sends messages to you all the time. It communicates with you. When you are connected with your body, you will be able to make better decisions and be happier.
Smell Fennel to enhance the link between mind, body, and spirit. When it is difficult to make decisions, let the gut, heart and mind work together to give you courage.
Courage Boosting Blend: Combine 1 tablespoon coconut oil, 3 drops Fennel, 4 drops Thyme, 1 drop Black Pepper, and 1 drop Ginger. Blend in a separate container and apply to bones behind the ears and the backs of the knees.15
